Referees

About the Referee Program

CYSA is committed to providing good officials. We provide 1 referee for U5-U8 games and 3 referees for games U9 and above—1 "head" referee (R) and 2 assistant referees (AR). CYSA maintains the principles of FIFA Laws and modifies them for youth levels. See our modified laws. The referees have been trained and tested by the NTSSA in conjunction with the USSF and FIFA and have made a considerable investment of time and resources in order to be able to officiate for the CYSA. For most of them this is their first job! If you want to be a referee please visit our Requirements page. Read more about "How to Become a Referee" at the NTSSA website.

The referee program is represented on the Board by the VP of Game Officials (see Article VII of the CYSA Bylaws). For the current VP of Game Officials visit the CYSA section or see below. With the help of a Referee Committee the VP will recruit, evaluate, promote and discipline referees that officiate CYSA sanctioned games. Visit the Requirements section or on our homepage for news of upcoming clinics and meetings.
