The VP Administration is responsible for determining whether a game must be canceled or postponed due to weather at any time up to the start of play.
When field conditions may be considered questionable due to inclement weather, the VP Administration will update the Hotline by 3:30 p.m. on weekdays, 7:00 a.m. for Saturday and by noon on Sundays. Coaches, parents and players may check for current field conditions online or call the weather hotline at 972/436-8648.
With sudden change in weather the referee has the final authority to postpone, suspend or abandon a game due to bad weather or other circumstances he judges to be unsatisfactory or unsafe at or after the scheduled starting time for that game.
In the event games have been cancelled because of rain, they will be rescheduled later in the season, unless otherwise indicated. Postponed games that are rescheduled will be posted in the team's online season schedule.
The VP of Administration will determine if games
can be played under safe conditions and the City of Coppell will determine
if the games will be played due to poor field conditions. Local lightning
shall always be considered hazardous. In the event of lightning or thunder
all play must stop. Retreat to a building or car (not a convertible). Lightning
can strike up to 6 miles away from the base of the thunderstorm. Play may
resume after 30 minutes from the last evidence of lightning or thunder. Please
do not put a life at risk over youth rec soccer practice. Teams must report
to the field ready to play regardless of the weather unless the coach has
been notified by the age-specific commissioner or the Hotline has posted
a cancellation prior to the game. If you are scheduled to play a game away
from Coppell, contact the local home association for postponement information.
The City of Coppell Parks and Recreation Department has installed the Thor
Guard Lightning Prediction System in most area parks to alert when
conditions are favorable for lightning strikes. CYSA members should adhere
to the city’s guidelines as described in the link below. More information
about the ThorGuard system is available on the city’s website. Go to www.ci.coppell.tx.us/,
Departments and Services, Parks and Recreation, then Lightning Prediction
System. Instructions are also mounted on each base unit location.

ATTENTION: These are only guidelines and some exceptions to them will occur. The VP of Administration makes the final decision and will post the decision on the Hotline. The coach of each team should always refer to the Hotline at 972/436-8648 before game time if there is any doubt games will be played as scheduled.
