Competitive teams are also a part of the NTSSA and the USYSA and follow specific rules and regulations.
Minimum age for competitive soccer is 10 years old (U11).
Coppell FC teams will be coached by Challenger Sports coaches with a minimum of an FA Level 2/USSF ‘C’ License, as well as CYSA-approved independent coaches, with a minimum "D" license coaching certification.
Coppell FC is a year-round soccer program offered by Coppell Youth Soccer Association. Competitive soccer is different from both Academy & Recreational soccer in many ways. This document will hopefully explain these differences and support you to make an informed decision on your child’s soccer future.
North Texas offers some of the highest quality competitive soccer in the United States. Teams from as far as Waco, Midland, Amarillo and Oklahoma travel to Dallas to participate in our local Classic & Premier Leagues.
US Youth Soccer – Calendar Year Registrations
United States Youth Soccer will adopt calendar year age groups for all programs for the 2016/2017 season. North Texas Soccer will also adopt calendar year age groups for the 2016/2017 season.
Why is US Youth Soccer implementing this?
-Alignment with the international age groups.
-Combat relative age effect.
-A selection bias towards players born earlier in the year because they are more physically mature.
-A balance of player born throughout the year is recommended.
-Allows for continued development of players who have not yet physically matured.
How does this impact my son/daughter?
Please see the birth year & season matrix chart provided by US Youth Soccer
A player born in 2006 will now be a U11 player for the 2016/17 season.
A player born in 2005 will now be a U12 player for the 2016/17 season.
Player Selection & League Placement
Coppell FC will hold tryouts throughout June. From July 1, 2016, players will be selected. The selected players then sign contracts and will commit to play exclusively for Coppell FC for the full soccer year from July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2017. Competitive players cannot participate in recreational soccer such are the required commitment levels or play with any other competitive teams during this period. Once teams are set, they will then train and focus on the various league qualifying tournaments in late July & early August. Please note it is essential all players are available for the qualifying dates.
Players who are not selected to represent Coppell FC, or do not want to go down the competitive route, can continue playing within CYSA’s recreational divisions within the NMCSL or GLASA concept against neighboring North Texas soccer associations.
